The ESRIC Super-Resolution Summer School 2017 is an advanced imaging training course which will take place over 5 days from Monday the 31st of July until Friday the 4th of August in Edinburgh. The course runs at Heriot-Watt University with sessions held at our sister institute, The University of Edinburgh.
The course is filled with informal talks from world renowned super-resolution professionals, paired with intensive technology workshops designed to allow participants to apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained and to quiz the application specialists about the practical aspects of performing super-resolution microscopy.
This year we have the following speakers confirmed; Professor Silvio RIzzoli, Professor Christian Eggeling, Dr Susan Cox, Dr Erik Manders, Professor MIchelle Peckham and Dr Sebastian Van De Linde. These super-resolution experts will give informal seminars on Monday and Tuesday, covering all of the available super-resolution imaging systems including single molecule localisation, stimulated emission depletion and structured illumination microscopies, as well as sample preparation and image analysis. Wednesday through to Friday our industry partners, Leica Microsystems, Nikon, Olympus UK, Zeiss and Hamamatsu demonstrate the capabilites of the latest super-resolution systems with practical workshops. As well as these main workshops we have additional sessions on analysis and sample preparation tips and tricks from Dr Ricardo Henriques and our ESRIC experts.
The summer school is aimed at researchers using or hoping to use super-resolution in the future with a solid understanding of fluorescence microscopy. We only take 35 delegates on the course, which creates an informal atmosphere with application specialists and our speakers allowing yourself and your fellow researchers,to be able to network and gain insight into your own projects.
The course includes 6 nights bed and breakfast accomodation (optional), lunch and refreshments each day and two social dinners out in the city of Edinburgh. Registration fees are as follows:
Non-Residential (RMS member rate) £550
Non-Residential (non-member rate) £600
Residential Sunday - Friday (RMS member rate) £800
Residential Sunday - Friday (non-member rate) £850
For additional £50 you can stay an additional night and check out on the Saturday. Depending on your travel plans this may be required as the course runs up until 5pm on the Friday. Information on travel can be found here, but at this time it will take approximately 45 minutes to the train station or airport by taxi.
You can register via the RMS webpage at this link. We run a rolling submission so please register early to avoid disappointment.
