2026 Specialist School - Programme
Monday 11th May (online) – Virtual Talks covering super-resolution techniques including structured illumination microscopy (SIM), stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy and single molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM); discussions about data management and user access funding; and technobites from key suppliers.
Tuesday 12th May (in-person at Institute for Neuroscience and Canrdiovascular Research, University of Edinburgh) – Talks on choosing the best label and on on expansion microscopy (ExM), supported by Nanotag and VisualiseBio, and hands-on workshops on structured super resolution and Airyscan, supported by CrestOptics, Nikon and Zeiss.
Wednesday 13th May (in-person at Institute of Genetics and Cancer, University of Edinburgh) – Hands-on workshops on super-resolution by optical pixel reassignment (SoRa), super-resolution radial fluctuations (SRRF) and Lattice Lightsheet supported by Nikon, Andor and Zeiss.
Thursday 14th May (in-person at Institute for Regeneration and Repair, University of Edinburgh) – Hands-on workshops on single molecule localisation microscopy (SMLM) sample preparation, acquisition and analysis, supported by Zeiss, Bruker, SVI and Abbelight.
Friday 15th May (in-person at Heriot-Watt University) – Talk about dye selection supported by Photon Lines and Abberior Instruments and hands-on workshops on stimulated emission depletion (STED) microscopy, STED deconvolution and fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM) supported by Leica and SVI.
