Edinburgh Super-Resolution Imaging Consortium

ESRIC Super-Resolution Clinic

ESRIC hosted its first Super-Resolution Clinic on February 28th 2019 at Heriot-Watt University. This exclusive event enabled researchers to test their own samples on two of our state-of-the-art super-resolution systems with the help and guidance of the technical experts: The Leica STED system which allows for approximately 50 nm resolution in multicolour over 3 dimensions and the ONI Nanoimager S which can localise single molecules down to 20 nm resolution in 3 dimensions in live and fixed samples.

Overview:

Own Sample Session:
  • Test your own samples on two state-of-the-art super-resolution systems
  • Obtain 50 nm resolution in multicolour over 3 Dimensions with the 3X STED (Leica)
  • Localise and track single proteins in 3 Dimensions with the Nanoimager S (ONI)
Lunch and Seminar:
  • Oxford Nanoimaging and their Nanoimager S
  • Leica Microsystems and thier 3D 3X STED
  • Ali Dun on the techniques available to you within ESRIC
  • Matthew Broadhead on his work applying STED and Single Molecule Imaging to study synaptic function
  • Charlotte Buckley and her work using high speed live cell imaging to understand kidney function
  • Networking Lunch
